Injuries Reported in Jefferson City Multi-Vehicle Accident on US 50/63 near Clark Avenue

JEFFERSON CITY, CA (January 2, 2025) – Friday afternoon, Colton Ramsey McGaughey was arrested after a disastrous multi-vehicle crash on US 50/63.

Reports said that the crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m. on eastbound US 50/63 near Clark Avenue.

Court documents indicate that a white box truck collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, initiating a chain reaction involving three additional vehicles.

A victim in the Silverado reportedly sustained a broken neck and was transported to a local hospital. Other individuals from the involved vehicles reported neck, back, and head injuries, with some also seeking medical attention.

The box truck fled the scene without notifying authorities. Video footage from a nearby police patrol vehicle reportedly captured the truck moments after the crash. Investigators traced the truck to an ice company, where management identified the driver as McGaughey, 35.

Photos from the company allegedly showed damage to the truck, which was consistent with the crash. McGaughey did not report the incident to his employer and left after being questioned.

He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving physical injury and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage exceeding $1,000. A warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday.
