Colin Murray Hurt in Orcutt Rollover Accident on Union Valley Parkway

 
ORCUTT, CA (March 1, 2019) – A driver suffered serious injuries following a rollover crash in Orcutt on Monday, February 25.
 
According to fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni, at around 6:40 p.m., firefighters, sheriff’s deputies, and California Highway Patrol officers rushed to the intersection of Union Valley Parkway and Orcutt Road for a report of a vehicle that overturned.
 
The driver, 28-year-old Colin James Murray, of Orcutt was moving southbound on Orcutt Road towards Union Valley Parkway. Meanwhile, a second driver, 28-year-old Amy Alison Ruth, of Orcutt, was westbound on Union Valley Parkway, CHP said.
 
Ruth had a green light and started turning left onto Orcutt Road while Murray’s vehicle veered onto the sidewalk and crashed into a traffic signal pole before the intersection. His vehicle began to overturn while moving through the intersection. Then it collided into the rear of Ruth’s vehicle, a 2014 Toyota.
 
Murray’s Pontiac moved through the intersection and hit a second traffic signal pole. After that, it went into a drainage canal, ending up on its roof.
 
Murray sustained major injuries, including a liver laceration and brain bleed, according to the CHP.
 
Firefighters had to remove him from the wreckage, according to Zaniboni. An AMR ambulance rushed Murray to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment.
 
CHP officers had a suspicion that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested Murray.
 
The CHP was investigating the reason behind the incident.
