1 Dead in Lancaster Multi-Vehicle Accident on Sierra Highway and Avenue B
LANCASTER, CA (May 5, 2022) – Tuesday night, Clifton Vial and two others suffered injuries in a deadly crash on Sierra Highway and Avenue B.
The incident happened at about 8:03 p.m. on Sierra Highway, south of Avenue B.
According to reports, a motorist drove a 2017 Nissan Sentra north on Sierra Highway. Then, he “unsafely entered the southbound lane and proceeded to overtake” a 2008 Honda Pilot. Meanwhile, the CHP said that the 2008 Honda Pilot had been traveling directly ahead of the Nissan.
Eventually, the Nissan Sentra collided head-on with a 2001 Toyota 4-Runner driving south on Sierra Highway. As a result, the Nissan Sentra veered out of control and rolled over on the east road edge right shoulder.
Authorities confirmed that the Nissan Sentra’s driver failed to wear a seatbelt during the collision. After the crash, the Nissan driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, officers described the deceased as a 29-year-old man from Inglewood.
After the crash, the Toyota 4-Runner rolled over and was struck by the Honda Pilot.
As a result of the crash, the 62-year-old Toyota driver, Clifton Vial of Rosamond, suffered moderate injuries. He sustained a broken left big toe.
Meanwhile, the Honda pilot occupants, 28-year-old driver Vanessa Aguilar, and her 39-year-old female passenger, also suffered moderate injuries.
“The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs is not suspected at this time,” the CHP said.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the crash. Furthermore, they urged anyone with information about the incident to call Officer S. Breen #21361 at the Antelope Valley CHP Office at 661-948-8541.
