One Dead, Two Critically Injured in Amarillo DWI Crash on Soncy and Legend
Amarillo, TX (January 5, 2025) On Friday, 35-year-old Clebson Da Silva was killed in a tragic head-on crash on Soncy Road.
According to Amarillo Police (APD), the DWI Crash happened around 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Soncy Road and Legend Avenue.
Reports say the horrific collision left one person dead and two others critically injured, police arrested a man for intoxicated manslaughter following a tragic crash.
Authorities reported that the crash occurred when 29-year-old Carlos Coronado, driving a 2022 Ram 2500 southbound on Soncy Road, swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid rear-ending another vehicle.
Officials say that Coronado’s truck collided head-on with a 2019 Ford Escape driven by Da Silva.
Police say that Da Silva tragically died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Meanwhile, two passengers in his vehicle—a 34-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child—suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
APD arrested Coronado and charged him with intoxicated manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault. He is currently held in the Randall County Jail.
The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad is continuing to investigate the incident.
