Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (December 4, 2018) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on Highway 54 near the 805 Freeway late Sunday.
 
The crash was reported around 10:21 p.m. when a relative of the 32-year-old driver contacted 911 saying that the SUV involved in the crash was parked on 4th Avenue near D Street, California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez said.
 
The 32-year-old Chula Vista driver had left the scene and drove the car less than two miles from where the incident occurred.
 
The 57-year-old victim, a National City resident, was found on Highway 54 near the 805 Freeway around 11:40 p.m. The unidentified victim died before being taken to a hospital.
 
It was unclear how the crash unfolded or why the pedestrian was walking along the freeway.
