34-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Pacific Avenue South
PARKLAND, WA (October 7, 2018) – A man was killed Sunday evening after a pedestrian collision on 108th Street South. The deceased victim was later identified by the Pierce County medical examiners on Tuesday as 34-year-old Christopher Lakey. His city of residence was not immediately disclosed.
According to officials with the Washington State Patrol, the collision took place around 8:00 PM near Pacific Avenue South.
Lakey was walking south on Pacific towards 108th Street when he stepped in front of an eastbound car, driven by a 34-year-old Lake Tapps woman. It was reported that the car was traveling about 25 mph when it struck him with its left front fender.
A deputy arrived shortly after the crash and attempted to revive the injured man, and Central Pierce Fire & Rescue medics performed chest compressions as they rushed him to the Tacoma General Hospital where he died later that night. The Lake Tapps woman remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies. She was driving with a suspended license and did not have insurance, but she and her passenger did not appear intoxicated.
No further details have been released to the public at this time.
