18-Year-Old Compton Teen Fatally Struck by Car near West Stockwell Street
COMPTON, CA (May 26, 2018) – Authorities are seeking information about the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 18-year-old Christopher Frushon of Compton. The teen was reportedly walking to his grandma’s house when the incident happened.
Around 8:46 PM, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck Frushon while he was in a crosswalk on North Wilmington Avenue near West Stockwell Street. The impact of the collision sent the victim into the air and onto the ground. The driver did not stop at the scene and fled northbound toward El Segundo Boulevard.
Paramedics treated Frushon at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital. He later succumbed to his blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead by medical professionals.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the driver was traveling at approximately 60 mph and ran a red light at West Stockwell Street. The vehicle was described as a mid-size sedan, possibly a Dodge Charger or a Kia, with significant front-end damage.
