Chula Vista Man Fatally Struck by Car after Accident near Civic Center Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 19, 2018) – A man was killed on Sunday evening, following a crash on Interstate 5. The victim was later identified as 41-year-old Christopher Allan Bingham of Chula Vista.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 9:45 PM near Civic Center Drive. Bingham was heading south on the I-5 when he exited his vehicle as it continued to travel at highway speeds. He then got up, ran toward the northbound lanes, and was struck by a 2007 Lexus sedan as he jumped the center median.
Paramedics arrived to render aid to Bingham, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old woman driving the sedan remained at the crash site and cooperated with investigators. Her name was not immediately released.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal incident and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that the victim was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Additional details were not provided to the public at this time.
