One Dies in DUI crash on Hughes Lane
Bakersfield, CA (May 13, 2022) – On Friday morning, the authorities arrested Christian Valencia, 25, of Arvin, in a DUI crash on Hughes Lane that killed a man.
Officers responded to the crash scene minutes before 12:30 a.m. at White Lane wherein two vehicles were involved.
The authorities said they witnessed a BMW driving recklessly at 12:26 a.m. in the area of South H Street and Planz Road. However, the officers lost sight of it.
Minutes later, they discovered that the car has collided with a Toyota Camry.
According to the investigators, the BMW ran a red light at a fast speed and struck the Toyota.
As a result, the Toyota driver incurred major injuries and died at the accident scene.
The emergency responders took Valencia, the BMW driver, to a hospital with moderate injuries.
Police say Valencia was driving under the influence of alcohol and a suspected controlled substance. They arrested him for DUI and vehicular homicide.
Valencia remains hospitalized. The authorities will book him into the Kern County jail when he is released.
