PHOENIX, AZ (January 30, 2020)—A two-vehicle crash at North 27th Avenue and West Van Buren Street Monday left two children injured.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, a black SUV blew through a red traffic light and collided with another car. In that second car, a 12-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics brought both to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.

The Phoenix fire department said a total of seven people occupied the SUV and the second vehicle. Following the accident, both drivers remained at the scene and police ruled out impairment as a factor.

Be wary of your surroundings and mindful of traffic lights and road signs. Because they help streamline traffic and bolster safety, your awareness plays an integral part, as well. Never run a red light and slow down when the traffic light turns yellow. You increase the risks of a car accident by failing to comply with these road rules.
