Rollover Crash on Highway 101 at Lake Mendocino Drive Kills 2 and Injures Child
UKIAH, CA (November 19, 2019) – Two people died following a rollover crash Tuesday evening in Mendocino County, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 101 at Lake Mendocino Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black 2003 Cadillac Escalade was heading northbound on Highway 101. For unknown reasons, it drove off the east side of the road, hit a metal fence, went down a dirt embankment and overturned onto the driver’s side.
The SUV then hit a Caterpillar tractor-scraper parked on a private yard, officials said.
As a result, the female driver of the Cadillac, 25-year-old Cheyenne Hoaglen, and her passenger, 32-year-old Randolph Balladare, both of Covelo, died at the scene. The two were a couple.
The couple’s 4-year-old son, who was riding in a car seat, suffered moderate injuries, authorities said.
Due to several factors remained unclear, investigation is ongoing.
