Cheree Sowell Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 60th Street West [Lancaster, CA]

Daniel Kaseforth Arrested after Fatal DUI Collision near Highway 138

 
LANCASTER, CA (February 7, 2019) – A woman was killed late Thursday afternoon following a DUI crash near Highway 138. The victim was later identified as 29-year-old Cheree Sowell of Rosamund.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 4:50 PM. A 2007 Ford was heading south on 60th Street West when he rear-ended a 2006 Scion that was stopped at the posted stop sign and limit line.
 
The impact of the collision pushed the Scion directly into the path of a westbound 2018 F-250. The Ford, driven by 34-year-old Daniel Kaseforth, continued into the intersection and also collided with the F-250.
 
Sowell, the driver of the Scion, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Three other people inside the Scion sustained injuries in the crash. 36-year-old James Sowell suffered a broken arm, 13-year-old Tristen Boughner suffered cuts, and 5- year-old Novaelle Sowell sustained lacerations to the face. Further updates on their current medical conditions were not provided.
 
The occupants of the F-250, 57-year-old Beverly Steele of Ventura and 79-year-old Judith Pommerenke of Ridgecrest, complained of pain. It is unknown whether or not they required hospitalization.
 
Kaseforth was arrested by the CHP at 5:51 PM and booked at the Lancaster Sheriffʼs Station in lieu of $100,000 bail.
