1 Dead and 8 Injured in Long Beach Traffic Accident on East Pacific Coast Highway and 2nd Street
LONG BEACH, CA (March 30, 2023) – Tuesday night, authorities arrested Chaz Lamar Long following a fatal crash on East Pacific Coast Highway and 2nd Street.
The incident happened at around 8:05 p.m. on East Pacific Coast Highway and 2nd Street.
According to reports, a passenger of a 2006 Lexus sedan maneuvered the vehicle that was stopped in a traffic stop. Then, they fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Then, as officers pursued the vehicle, the Lexus collided with eight other vehicles.
Moreover, officers confirmed that a 74-year-old woman died in the crash. Then, paramedics transported five people to a hospital with critical injuries. Also, responders transported a female passenger and an infant inside the Lexus to a hospital for evaluation.
Furthermore, officers managed to locate and arrest the Lexus driver, 39-year-old Chaz Lamar Long of Antioch. Long is currently facing charges on suspicion of murder, felony child endangerment, felony evading, and felony hit-and-run.
Meanwhile, the incident remained under active investigation.
