2 People Hurt in Petaluma DUI Accident on Lakeville Highway and S McDowell Boulevard

PETALUMA, CA (August 8, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, authorities arrested Charles Piezzi following a multi-vehicle crash on Lakeville Highway and S McDowell Boulevard.

The incident happened at around 5:50 p.m. on Lakeville Highway and S. McDowell Boulevard.

According to reports, an SUV rear-ended a vehicle for still unknown reasons. Then, the crash caused a chain reaction involving a total of four vehicles. Also, the SUV driver continued traveling over a curb, parked in a nearby parking lot and fled on foot, and entered a residence of the nearby neighborhood in the 1500 block of Rio Nido Way.

Moreover, responders transported an adult female to a hospital with unknown injuries. Also, a 12-year-old child sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

Furthermore, officers arrested the SUV driver, 58-year-old Petaluma resident Piezzi, for DUI with injury, DUI with injury over .08% blood-alcohol content, hit and run with injury, burglary for entering an occupied dwelling in the commission of a crime, resisting or obstructing Peace Officers, driving with a suspended license for DUI, displaying false license plate and violation of DUI probation.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
