HWY 287 Collision Kills Drivers
Elkhart, TX (December 23, 2023) – Celsey Lively, 32, of Elkhart, and Alfred Velma, 62, of Seagoville, were killed in a 2-vehicle collision on Highway 287 Wednesday morning.
It was about 7:52 a.m. when Velma was towing a trailer with a Toyota Tacoma southbound on the highway.
Velma’s trailer began to sway and he lost control of the truck that crossed into the northbound lane.
As a result, Velma struck a Nissan Armada driven by Lively.
Sadly, the authorities declared Velma and Lively dead at the scene.
Officers said Lively was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash happened.
The authorities are investigating.
