Celestina Roman Killed, Margarita Roman Hurt in Selah Car Accident
SELAH, WA (February 7, 2019) – A person died while another suffered injuries in a six-vehicle collision on 82 Freeway, three miles north of Selah on February 4.
The Washington State Patrol revealed that the vehicles were heading east on 82 Freeway at 2:45 p.m. during a snowstorm, and bumped into each other while the drivers tried to slow for collisions ahead. The incident shut down eastbound 82 Freeway for multiple hours.
A passenger of a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, 85-year-old Celestina Roman of Selah, died at the collision. Meanwhile, another passenger of the car, 56-year-old Margarita Roman, suffered injuries and was transported to Astria Regional Medical Center. 60-year-old Alberto Roman, the driver of the vehicle, was reportedly unharmed.
According to WSP, the other vehicles involved in the collision were a tractor-trailer, a Mazda four-door, an Acura MDX, a Dodge Grand Caravan, and a Subaru Outback. WSP also added that three vehicles were totaled due to the collision, while the remaining three sustained reportable damages.
The cause of the collision is still being investigated.
