Man Struck and Killed by Car on Highway 183 at Cooper Street [Castroville, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 183 in Castroville

 
CASTROVILLE, CA (April 27, 2019) – A 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a car on Highway 183 as he walked along the highway at Cooper Street in Castroville.
 
A Castroville resident was walking along Highway 183 around 12:30 a.m., when he was struck by a silver Lexus. Investigators believe the man was trying to cross the road at the time.
 
Officers immediately called the paramedics for medical assistance. The victim was later pronounced dead on scene due to the impact. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.
 
The driver of the Lexus, a 19-year-old Castroville woman, was neither injured nor arrested following the collision.
 
Meanwhile, the surrounding roadways were also blocked off while crews worked to clean up the scene.
 
Furthermore, drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. More details will eventually be released once available.
