26-Year-Old Man Dies after Multi-Vehicle Crash on 91 Freeway near Alameda Street
COMPTON, CA (September 30, 2019) – A 26-year-old Carson man lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash on 91 Freeway, late Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 11:30 PM. Due to unknown reasons, a Mercedes Benz C300 collided with a Scion XA near the Alameda Street offramp. Then, the Mercedes came to rest facing the wrong way in the carpool lane.
The Mercedes driver exited his vehicle and began walking in the traffic lanes. There, a 2014 Ford Mustang, driven by a 32-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man, struck the victim. Moments later, the unconscious pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle, a Mercedes Benz E350.
The victim succumbed to fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, emergency responders rushed the 31-year-old Scion driver to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The CHP continues to investigate the deadly incident. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
