Vacaville Woman Dies in Afternoon Crash at Lyon Road and Blue Mountain Drive

VACAVILLE, CA (November 20, 2018) – A woman was killed following a two-car crash Tuesday afternoon in unincorporated Solano County, CHP officials said.

The fatal crash happened around 4:34 p.m. on Lyon Road, just West of Blue Mountain Drive.

According to reports, a silver 2000 BMW 328i was traveling westbound on Lyon Road when it crossed into the eastbound lane, directly into the path of a red 2015 Hyundai Elantra, which hit the passenger side of the BMW.

The female passenger of the BMW was ejected from the car due to severe impact. She suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was later identified by the Solano County coroner’s officials as Carly Hutchings, 19, of Vacaville.

The driver of the BMW, a 19-year-old Daniel Sanchez-Poore of Vacaville, and the driver of the Hyundai, a 29-year-old Sonya Sanchez of Vacaville, both suffered major injuries. They were assisted out of their cars by other motorists, then taken by emergency personnel to NorthBay Medical Center.

A Napa-based CHP helicopter crew responded, and at least one of the injured was flown from the crash site southwest of Vacaville, off 80 Freeway.

Authorities from Fairfield and Vacaville blocked vehicular traffic to the rural stretch of Lyon Road between Hilborn Road in Fairfield and Cherry Glen Road in rural Vacaville as they worked on the scene.

It is unknown if distracted driving, drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
