34-Year-Old Carlos Martinez Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash on East Valencia Road [Tucson, AZ]

Tucson, Az (Aug. 7, 2023) – On Friday morning, Carlos Martinez, a 34-year-old passenger was killed in a 3-vehicle crash on East Valencia Road.

Officers said it was just minutes before 4:15 a.m. when a speeding red 2003 GMC Yukon ran a westbound stop sign.  The vehicle then collided with a southbound white 2003 Freightliner pulling a 2012 Hyundai trailer on South Country Club Road.

The Yukon drove west and struck a traffic signal in the median before it crashed into a black 2012 Ford Fusion which had stopped in the left turn bay on the eastbound side of East Valencia Road.

Investigating officers said the Yukon driver was going faster than 80 MPH. The driver ran away before the authorities arrived at the scene.

Sadly, a passenger of the Yukon, Carlos Martinez, died at the Banner University Medical Center. The rescuers also took him and two others to the hospital
