The California Highway Patrol responded to the DUI accident scene at about 9 P.M.

23-year-old Jose Guizar Jr. of Winton was the driver of a 2008 Lexus IS 350 traveling eastbound on Walnut Avenue approaching Central Avenue.

For unidentified reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the oncoming lane.

As a result, his vehicle crashed head-on with a 2001 Honda Civic traveling westbound on Walnut Avenue.

Then, shortly after the crash, the Honda’s engine compartment started a fire.
