Cameron Bethel Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highland Avenue [Selma, CA]

Selma, CA (June 21, 2023) – On Saturday night, 19-year-old Cameron Bethel was injured following a hit-and-run crash on Highland Avenue.

The traffic accident took place at around 11:15 p.m. in the area of Floral Avenue.

Selma Police said Bethel was walking across the roadway when he was struck by a car that fled the scene.

Later on, the authorities located the driver, 20-year-old Amy Merino-Rios, in a nearby parking lot. Officers arrested her for felony hit and run and booked into jail.

Bethel’s mother said the victim was walking home from work when the accident happened. He remains in a local hospital with a broken leg and back.

Investigating officer said alcohol and drugs were not involved in the Selma traffic accident.
