1 Dead in Ontario Accident on 10 Freeway and Archibald Avenue

 
ONTARIO, CA (August 1, 2021) – Friday night, a Caltrans worker died in a crash on 10 Freeway and Archibald Avenue.
 
The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on 10 Freeway between the off-ramps of Archibald and Vineyard avenues.
 
According to reports, the Caltrans workers conducted maintenance work on foot with heavy machinery on the number 4 and 5 lanes of the westbound 10 freeway. Then, a man driving a Toyota sedan steered into the orange cones and struck one of the workers.
 
As a result, responders took a Hispanic male worker to Pomona Valley hospital in critical condition. Then, he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the Toyota driver tried to escape from the scene. However, a witness and a concerned citizen held him back until authorities arrived.
 
The authorities screened the suspect for DUI and took him into custody.
 
Also, the authorities haven’t identified the deceased due to pending family notification.
