Calen Hollis Arrested in Horrific Chase Crash on Linwood Road [Kansas City, MO]

Olathe Man Faces Felony Charges After High-Speed Chase Ends in Roof Crash

Kansas City, MO (February 21, 2025) – 22-year-old Calen Hollis of Olathe was arrested by authorities after a high-speed chase crash on Linwood Road.

According to police, the horrific incident happened on February 15, when Hollis picked up two 13-year-old girls and to allegedy buy them alcohol.

According to a probable cause document, Hollis admitted to law enforcement that he drove from Lenexa, Kansas, to Rayville, Missouri, and Hollis stated that one of the girls contacted him through a public Snapchat forum, asking for alcohol.

After picking them up, he drove toward Excelsior Springs, following directions from one of the teens.

When a police vehicle pulled behind him, Hollis panicked, knowing he was unlicensed and on felony probation in Johnson County, Kansas, for a prior sexual offense involving a minor. Having already served three years in prison, he is a registered sex offender.

A brief, high-speed chase ensued, during which Hollis reached speeds of over 100 mph before veering off Linwood Road. The vehicle went airborne and crashed into the roof of the Veterans of Foreign Wars building. Emergency crews rescued Hollis and the two teens from the wreckage.

Both teenagers were transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital with injuries. One girl sustained a broken collarbone and multiple spinal fractures.

Hollis now faces two counts of aggravated fleeing a vehicle stop in Clay County Circuit Court. Authorities in Johnson County also arrested him for a probation violation. His bond in Clay County was set at $150,000, but as of Thursday morning, he remained in custody at the Johnson County Detention Center.
