Pedestrian Fatally Injured in Suspected DUI Collision near National Boulevard
PALMS, CA (July 26, 2018) – A pedestrian was killed Thursday evening following a two-vehicle crash on South Sepulveda Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident happened shortly after 9 PM in the 3000 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard. For unknown reasons, a Ford Expedition and a Toyota RAV4 collided near National Boulevard.
The impact caused the Expedition to slam into a light pole before striking a bus bench and a bystander. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead by responding officials. The pedestrian’s identity and city of residence were not immediately released. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
The driver of the Expedition was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. An investigation is ongoing to determine how the collision unfolded and to identify possible contributing factors.
