Apple Valley Collision Kills Kia Driver
Apple Valley, CA (January 23, 2023) – Just yesterday, Byron Weekly, 86, of Apple Valley, died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 18.
The fatal collision took place at about 6 a.m. at the intersection with Flathead Road.
Responding officers said a black 2015 Dodge Challenger was westbound on the freeway approaching Flathead Road. At the same time, a red 2016 Kia Sorento driven by Byron Weekly was traveling north on Flathead Road approaching Highway 18.
The authorities said it is still unknown which vehicle did not stop at the red light causing the two vehicles to collide at the intersection.
Right away, the medical team rushed Byron Weekly to St. Mary’s Hospital where he died.
The Dodge driver, on the other hand, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T) is investigating the Apple Valley collision.
