Brutal Traffic Crash on Highway 101 Kills 1 [Willits, CA]

1 Dead in Willits Auto Accident on Highway 101

WILLITS, CA (November 12, 2023) – Saturday morning, a brutal traffic crash on Highway 101 killed 1 person.

The incident happened last November 3rd at about 4:04 a.m. on Highway 101 at the top of the Willits Grade portion.

According to reports, a sedan crashed approximately 1.5 miles south of Willits in an area described as the ‘top of the ridge.’

As a result, a “male subject was lying on the roadway” in the area of Cal Fire’s Howard Forest Station.

When the emergency personnel arrived at the scene and checked for injuries, they said that there’s a “confirmed 1144”, meaning a deceased individual.

Then, the two vehicles stopped in the roadway and Caltrans was deployed to the scene to shut down the southbound #2 lane of Highway 101.

Then, the authorities reopened Highway 101 by about 7 a.m.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
