1 Dead in Tucson Pedestrian Accident on E Valencia Road near S Nogales Highway

TUCSON, AZ (August 7, 2023) – Sunday morning, a brutal hit-and-run crash on E Valencia Road near S Nogales Highway killed 1 person.

The incident happened just after 5:00 a.m. on East Valencia Road between South Nogales Highway and South 6th Avenue.

When responding officers arrived, they located two men lying on the road.

Public Information Officer Sergeant Richard Gradillas confirmed that one man succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, another person suffered life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the Tucson Police Department suspects that an unknown vehicle (or vehicles), which fled before authorities could get there, struck both of them.

Officers confirmed that one person died at the scene. However, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.

Emergency crews transported the second man with “life-threatening injuries” to the Banner University Medical Center.

Also, officers confirmed that the men were in the westbound travel lanes of Valencia Road when the crash occurred.

Sgt. Gradillas said, “Both pedestrians were mid-block and not in a marked or unmarked crosswalk.”

The authorities urged anyone who has information to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
