Brutal DUI Crash on Highway 99 and Nicolaus Avenue Kills 1 [Yuba City, CA]

1 Dead in Yuba City Auto Accident on Highway 99 and Nicolaus Avenue

YUBA CITY, CA (September 11, 2023) – Saturday night, a brutal DUI crash on Highway 99 and Nicolaus Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened at about 7:00 p.m. on Highway 99 and Nicolaus Avenue.

According to reports, a drunk 61-year-old man drove a 2017 Ford Fusion on the northbound onramp to State Route 99 from Garden Highway.

Then, the driver of the Ford failed to negotiate a sharp right-hand turn for the onramp. Thus, they crossed into a lane of Highway 99, directly into the path of a Ram 1500.

As a result, the Ram allegedly broadsided the Ford’s driver’s door causing the Ford to become trapped.

Medics located the driver and confirmed that he was not breathing. Despite life-saving measures, the Ford driver was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, responders took the driver and a passenger of the Ram to a hospital with complaints of pain. Also, the 12-year-passenger inside the Ram suffered no injuries in the crash.

Also, the incident shut down northbound Highway 99 for around two hours.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
