1 Dead in Bakersfield Bicycle Crash on 200 Roberts Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 17, 2025) – Late Sunday night, a brutal bicycle accident on 200 Roberts Lane killed 1 person.

The incident happened just after 11:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Roberts Lane.

The Kern County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle rider on Roberts Lane near Plymouth Avenue.

According to CHP, a 21-year-old driver was heading westbound at approximately 35 to 40 mph when an adult female bicyclist entered the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk. Authorities noted there were no street lights in the area, and the bicycle lacked lighting or reflective equipment.

The front of the vehicle struck the right side of the bicycle, ejecting the rider. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained on-site and is cooperating with the investigation.
