Brian VanDyke and Burton Haughey Killed in Pleasant Grove Plane Accident

 
PLEASANT GROVE, CA (May 17, 2019) — Two pilots died after two small crop-dusting planes collided in Pleasant Grove on Wednesday, May 15.
 
The two single-engine Grumman G-164C Ag Cats were seeding the field at the time of the incident around noon. It took place near 3870 Pleasant Grove Road, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson said.
 
A video from a local news source showed one plane break into pieces on the ground. While the other plane fell in water about 250 feet away. The mangled planes are approximately 600 feet from each other in an open field.
 
The pilots identified as 63-year-old Brian VanDyke, and 59-year-old Burton Haughey, both died at the scene.
 
Officers found Haughey inside his plane and they discovered VanDyke on the ground outside the other aircraft.
 
Friends told reporters that both men were from families of pilots. They said that both were well-known and respected in the agricultural community.
 
There was no immediate information on what caused the collision. The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
