Students Killed in Houston County Vehicle Crash
Houston County, TX (November 21, 2024) – Boston Wilson, 16, of Big Sandy, and Carter Snider, 17, of Hawkins, were killed in a vehicle collision on Highway 19 Saturday.
Wilson was a student at Big Sandy High School while Snider was a senior football player at Hawkins High School.
DPS said Snider was driving north near Private Road 7068 when his vehicle went off the road to the right. He overcorrected the maneuver back to the left but the vehicle traveled into a side skid into the southbound lane and was hit by a southbound vehicle.
Snider was transported to the hospital where he died. His passenger, Wilson, was declared deceased at the scene. Snider’s other passenger, Riley Russell, 18, was transported with life-threatening injuries.
Moreover, the driver of the other vehicle, Henry Fields of Houston, 60, was also transported with life-threatening injuries, while his passenger, James Gilford, 60, was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
