18-Year-Old Man Dies after Crashing Head-On with Pickup Truck on Highway 49 in North Auburn
NORTH AUBURN, CA (October 22, 2019) – A teen was killed following a head-on crash Tuesday morning in North Auburn.
The crash happened around 5:36 a.m. on Grass Valley Highway, also known as Highway 49, at New Airport Road.
According to the CHP, a doughnut delivery van was traveling northbound at approximately 50 mph. For unknown reasons, it veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck.
As a result, the driver of the van died at the scene. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Borys Cherniienko.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries, according to the CHP.
The Dunk ‘n Run Donuts shop created a GoFundMe page to help the bereaved family’s funeral expenses.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
