20-Year-Old Ridgefield Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident near the Ilani Casino at NW Lacenter Road
RIDGEFIELD, WA (October 11, 2018) – On Thursday evening, a man was killed in a pedestrian crash on Meridian Avenue. The deceased victim was later identified as 20-year-old Billy Griffith of Ridgefield.
According to troopers with the Washington State Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 8:40 PM near the Ilani Casino at Northwest Lacenter Road.
Reports showed that the victim was trying to cross or walk in a lane on the freeway when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle. He suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders.
The driver, 25-year-old Lili Shi of Irvine, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges have been filed at this time.
Drivers were detoured at Exit 16 and diverted through downtown La Center to Woodland. Anyone with additional information on the fatal incident is asked to contact the authorities as soon as possible. No further details have been provided to the public, as the investigation continues.
