Devastating Big Rig Crash on 15 Freeway Led to Injuries [Cajon Pass, CA]

Cajon Pass, CA (December 18, 2023) On Sunday afternoon, a massive big rig crash on 15 Freeway left people hurt and a big rig split in half.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the semi-truck accident happened around 12:10 p.m. in the southbound direction of the 15 freeway near the truck weigh scales, just north of Cleghorn Boulevard.

Reports say that the driver of a big rig travelling at high speed lost control of the semi causing the big rig to veered through a guardrail and split into two, ultimately landing in a nearby wash.

Officials say that first responders arrived at the scene and found the semi driver conscious and able to communicate with them, however, officials say that at least one other vehicle was involved in the crash, a a black Honda, hit by the out-of-control truck before it careened off the roadway.

Authorities say that people in the Honda sustained injuries and were promptly treated at the scene. The semi-truck accident affected the southbound lanes of I-15 near Cajon Scales.

CHP is investigating the massive accident and have not released further information at this time.
