Unidentified Big-Rig Driver Evaluated after Multi-Vehicle Accident near Avenue 50 in Coachella
COACHELLA, CA (May 5, 2020) – Mid Monday afternoon, a big-rig collision spilled 100 gallons of diesel fuel on Highway 86.
The Riverside County Fire Department first received reports of the crash around 2:32 p.m., on Highway 86 near Avenue 50. Emergency personnel arrived to the area shortly after.
When the medical responders arrived at the scene, they assessed one driver. However, the said driver refused to be taken to a hospital.
According to police reports, a hazardous-materials crew responded to the scene, as well as the County Department of Environmental Health.
Meanwhile, California Highway Patrol reported that they shut down one northbound lane following the collision. Towing services were also requested, due to the extent of damage sustained.
