Man Hospitalized after Collision with Vehicle near South Peach Avenue
FRESNO, CA (August 8, 2018) – A bicyclist was seriously injured Wednesday evening following a rear-end crash on East Jensen Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at about 9:25 PM, near South Peach Avenue. A bicycle pulling a trailer was traveling eastbound when it was struck by a 2010 Mazda. The impact ejected the bicyclist onto the roadway.
The victim was transported to the Community Regional Medical Center after sustaining serious injuries. His identity, city of residence, and current condition were not immediately released. Meanwhile, the driver of the Mazda, 69-year-old Sanger resident Shirley Coon, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An initial investigation suggests that the victim was straddling the right and left eastbound lanes with no lighting equipment or reflective gear. Coon claimed that she did not see the bicyclist and was unable to avoid the rear of the bicycle in time.
No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
