LOS ANGELES, CA (October 25, 2019) – A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver late Friday evening in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.

The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. in the 3000 block of Berkeley Avenue.

CHP officials said a 57-year-old homeless man was riding his bicycle in the area when a car hit him. As a result, the victim suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital for proper treatment.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the driver fled the scene and remains at large. The suspect vehicle was described as a red newer model Mini Cooper with a white roof. Investigators say it likely has extensive damage to the front.

Authorities offered a $25,000 reward for information which leads to an arrest. Further investigation is underway.

As drivers, always make sure to pay close attention to any bicyclist around. Share the road and give them plenty of space on the road. Never try to cut off a biker and give them time to change lanes.
