San Rafael Man Martin Hoffman Jr. Dies in Bicycle and SMART Train Crash

 
SAN RAFAEL, CA (UPDATE) – On July 3, a bicyclist named Martin Ray Hoffman Jr. sustained critical injuries in a train accident near San Pedro Road.
 
The crash occurred around 6:49 p.m. near the North San Pedro Road crossing, just south of the Marin Civic Center station. SMART spokeswoman Julia Gonzalez revealed that a northbound SMART train struck a bicyclist in the city of San Rafael.
 
At this time, Gonzalez hasn’t confirmed whether they activated the crossing arms and sirens during the crash.
 
Meanwhile, the 13 passengers inside the train were uninjured.
 
Furthermore, the San Rafael Police Department continues to investigate the injury crash.
 
Later reports on July 14 revealed the identity of the victim as Martin Ray Hoffman Jr., a San Rafael resident. His family lives out of state, thus, notification was delayed.
