John Romero Dead in Port Hueneme Bicycle Accident, Anthony Macias Arrested
PORT HUENEME, CA (October 1, 2020) – Wednesday morning, 40-year-old bicyclist John Romero died in a hit-and-run crash near Ventura Road and Teakwood Street in Port Hueneme.
The fatal bicycle accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. said Scott Matalon, a spokesman for the Port Hueneme Police Department. Moreover, the crash took place near Ventura Road and Teakwood Street.
Matalon confirmed that officers stayed at the scene around 9:00 a.m. during the investigation.
Furthermore, the incident led to the closure of the northbound lanes of Ventura Road near Teakwood Street.
Later reports revealed that Mr. Romero crossed the street, when a silver sedan struck him.
The suspect fled the scene, but then came back. Police identified him as 28-year-old Anthony Macias.
Macias was arrested for hit-and-run and DUI.
