Bianca Orozco Arrested for Driving Into Activists in San Jose

San Jose, CA (June 1, 2020) – Police arrested Bianca Orozco on Saturday morning for driving into activists at Sixth Street and Santa Clara Street.

Police reports say that on Friday, the 26-year-old woman rammed a gray Dodge Durango into a crowd of protesters, striking two men near downtown San Jose.

It was a daylong protest against the death of George Floyd. Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin killed the unarmed black man this week.

The sheriff’s deputy saw the vehicle making a U-turn and drive back toward the crowd. It ran up at a high rate of speed and ran over two adult male victims.

Authorities believed Orozco was attempting to run over the protesters because the vehicle turned to the protesters and deputies and drove directly into them.

The suspect immediately fled when a deputy fired one round at the vehicle.

Two victims were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries. They were later released, the police said.

Meanwhile, an officer of San Jose Police Department recorded the Durango’s license plate. In turn, the homicide detectives found the Durango and Orozco, at a San Jose home on Saturday.

Police apprehended Orozco and booked her into the Santa Clara County Jail. Furthermore, officials are still doing investigation on the incident. Anyone with further details is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Isidro Bagon. Or Detective Ramon Sanchez of the SJPD’s Homicide Unit at (408) 277-5283.

Also, anyone who wants to remain anonymous may either call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (408) 947-STOP (78670)

Pedestrian Accidents May Happen Anytime

While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when travelling on foot. “Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers. “Some of the worst pedestrian incidents involve minors because they are sometimes hard to see and they also ride bikes, skateboards, etc. Common locations for these pedestrian incidents include shopping center entrances and street corners.” As always, it is important to keep focus and stay alert while on the streets, and never hurt individuals intentionally with your vehicle.
