Jeremy Smith Injured, Benjamin Marquez IV Dead in Castaic Accident near Oak Valley Road

 
CASTAIC, CA (January 24, 2021) – On Thursday, Benjamin Marquez IV, 31, died, while Jeremy Smith was airlifted after a crash near Oak Valley Road and The Old Road.
 
The Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of the incident before 1:00 p.m. Moreover, the off-road crash occurred near Oak Valley Road and The Old Road in Castaic.
 
Upon the officials’ arrival, they located an overturned blue Chevrolet truck.
 
Then, the officials confirmed that the truck was located by an individual riding a dirt bike nearby. According to them, the person heard cries of distress emanating from the car.
 
“The reporting party advised he had located an overturned vehicle in the hills, west of The Old Road, on Oak Valley Road (approximately 1 mile west on a dirt road),” said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesman for the CHP Newhall Office.
 
Meanwhile, reports said that the original incident may have actually occurred on January 21st, with the two occupants being stuck in the truck since then.
 
Greengard added that one person, Mr. Marquez, was dead on arrival.
 
On the other hand, passenger Jeremy Smith was flown to a nearby hospital. The victim sustained two fractured legs as a result of the crash.
