29-Year-Old Woman Died and Two Men Injured after Car Collision on 405 Freeway at Moraga Drive
BEL AIR, CA (February 11, 2018) – A 29-year-old woman died and two men were hospitalized after another car crashed into their car that was stopped in lanes on the 405 Freeway in Bel Air on Sunday.
The woman of Laguna Beach was a passenger in the Mini Cooper that stopped shortly after 12:30 AM on northbound 405 Freeway at Moraga Drive for unknown reasons.
The Mini’s lights were out when a Nissan Sentra driving at about 65 mph struck the Mini. The driver of the Mini was identified as a 26-year-old man of Simi Valley, and the driver and sole occupant of the Sentra was a 47-year-old Ventura resident.
According to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighter-paramedics responded to the scene and rushed three people to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Initially, two of the patients were critically injured and the third was in fair condition, but the woman later died at the hospital according to the California Highway Patrol. Her name was not immediately disclosed.
Authorities implemented a Sigalert and the closure of the northbound side of the 405 for about two hours after the incident.
