1 Dead and 1 Arrested in Phoenix Pedestrian Accident near 20th Street and Highland Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (June 7, 2021) – Sunday morning, Barbara Brown died while Isaac Najera has been arrested in a DUI crash near 20th Street.
According to the Phoenix Police, the incident happened at around 2:41 p.m. near 20th Street and Highland Avenue.
Reports revealed that 23-year-old Isaac Najera lost control of his vehicle after making a turn to 20th Street from Highland Avenue. Then, the vehicle crossed three lanes and over a curb into a landscaped area where 47-year-old Barbara Brown was sleeping.
Also, the vehicle ran over Brown before colliding into a pole. Najera fled the scene on foot after the crash.
Furthermore, responders transported Brown to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, officers managed to locate Najera. The suspect showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for DUI.
Moreover, Najera will be facing charges for manslaughter and leaving the scene.
