5-Month-Old Boy Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on I-15
BAKER, CA (May 18, 2018) – A rollover crash on Interstate 15 claimed the life of a 5-month-old boy and injured three others, early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at about 3 AM. The 22-year-old driver of a northbound Camry was rapidly approaching the rear of a tractor-trailer, which was pulling double semi-trailers. For unknown reasons, the Camry driver allowed the vehicle to turn right, sideswiping the Peterbilt.
The impact of the collision caused the Camry to flip and slam into the center divider, throwing two passengers, the infant and a 20-year-old woman, onto the ground. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and two other passengers were transported to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas. Injuries sustained ranged from major to moderate. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
Affected areas were shut down for approximately three hours for clearing operations and investigation. Authorities believe that alcohol and drugs were not involved in the collision.
