Multiple Victims Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 5 near Old Canyon Road in Los Angeles

 
Los Angeles, CA (April 30, 2020) – Sunday evening, at least two victims were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5.
 
The Los Angeles Communication Center started receiving calls about the incident on the northbound lanes near Old Canyon Road around 6:30 p.m. California Highway Patrol was one said that the vehicles collided before both went over the side of Interstate 5.
 
Responders located an upside-down Chrysler sedan at the fence line. There, the driver was found pinned inside. Medics later said that he was suffering from a head injury.
 
Officers who extricated the pinned driver observed a strong gasoline smell and feared a fire could erupt.

The Aftermath of Initial Incident

 
More responders arrived to the area and were able to locate the driver of the second vehicle, a Toyota sedan. He suffered minor injuries.
 
LA County Fire supervisor Cheryl Sims was there to supervise the rescue that fell onto The Old Road and Rye Canyon Road.
 
Paramedics gave the Chrysler driver treatment on the scene.
 
Furthermore, the collision resulted in at least two people being transported to the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital for further treatment.
 
Officials said speed was a factor in the multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5. However, an investigation remains ongoing.
