Assault Suspect on the Run Hit and Killed by SUV on 280 Freeway in San Francisco

 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (July 4, 2019) – An assault suspect died after being struck by a car late Thursday afternoon in San Francisco.
 
Officers responded to the Balboa Park Muni station at 4:57 p.m. regarding an assault. Upon their arrival, the suspect fled the scene and ran onto northbound 280 Freeway.
 
While running across the Geneva Avenue off-ramp, a white SUV struck and killed him. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
 
The assault victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. In addition, paramedics treated the assault victim at the scene, police said.
 
All lanes of northbound 280 Freeway temporarily closed for the on-scene investigation. Police did not release any other information at this time. The California Highway Patrol is handling the fatal freeway collision, while SFPD handles the assault.
