Two Dead and One Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision near Willow Road

LAKESIDE, CA (September 27, 2018) – A man and a woman were killed Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash near Willow Road. The female victim was later identified as 21-year-old Ashley Kay, a resident of El Cajon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 6:30 AM. A Honda Accord was heading south on Wildcat Canyon Road at high speeds when it veered right toward the west side of the roadway. The driver then turned left, driving into the path of a northbound Porsche SUV.

The impact of the collision split the Honda in half and ejected its occupants, Kay and an unidentified 53-year-old El Cajon man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while Kay was airlifted to the Sharp Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, the young woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.

Meanwhile, the 41-year-old driver of the Porsche was also transported to Sharp after suffering major injuries. There is no update on her current medical condition, but she is expected to survive and recover. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact (619) 401-2000. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
