18-Year-Old Bakersfield Truck Driver Dies in Single Vehicle Crash near Corn Camp Road

BUTTONWILLOW, CA (October 15, 2018) – On Monday morning, a teenage driver was killed in a collision on Highway 58. The deceased victim was later identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as 18-year-old Antonio Rocha-Valdez of Bakersfield.

According to reports by the California Highway Patrol, Rocha-Valdez was driving an oilfield bucket truck westbound on Highway 58, just east of Corn Camp Road. He was traveling around 55 miles per hour.

For unknown reasons, the young man suddenly steered to the left, causing the truck to veer across both lanes and partially enter the dirt shoulder of the eastbound lanes. He then overcorrected to the right, making the vehicle overturn and come to rest on the driver’s side.

Rocha-Valdez was not wearing a seatbelt and became partially ejected from the vehicle. Further details about the incident are not available at this time.

We at Sweet Law Group offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Antonio Rocha-Valdez. Wishing them strength and support during this very difficult time. May he rest in peace.
