Anthony Leyvas and Xander Leyvas Struck and Killed by Vehicle on South 12th Avenue

 
Tucson, AZ (November 22, 2020) – On Friday, 37-year-old Anthony Leyvas and 6-month-old Xander Leyvas died in a pedestrian accident.
 
Moreover, it occurred on South 12th Avenue and West Bilby Road.
 
Authorities responded to the fatal Tucson accident at about 6:49 p.m. wherein two vehicles and four pedestrians were involved.
 
When they arrived, Tucson Fire medics were on the scene providing aid to the pedestrians and two drivers.
 
One driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries while the other driver did not get injured.
 
Authorities pronounced Anthony and Xander both dead at the scene. Police notified the deceased’s next of kin.
 
The other two pedestrians were rushed to the hospital.
 
Furthermore, detectives determined a Black 2013 Chrysler 200 was traveling southbound on South 12th Avenue and turned left onto eastbound Bilby Road.
 
At the same time, a Maroon 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was moving northbound on Bilby Road in the median lane.
 
The two vehicles crashed in the intersection and pushed the Chevrolet into a nearby bus stop where the four pedestrians were struck.
 
Moreover, both drivers remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police determined neither of the drivers was impaired at the time of the crash.
 
Though, authorities suspect excessive speed is a factor in the Arizona accident.
 
No citations or charges were issued at this time.
